So just how bad is this struggling economy? :
One local university is cutting costs so much that some departments are failing to replenish office supplies. Good luck finding an interoffice envelope at that school...
I've heard of at least two companies who have stopped publishing their newsletters. If there isn't any good news to report, why bother?
In the area of video production, lots of cutbacks - more companies are requesting videos using mainly archival footage; other jobs are getting canceled altogether (as I witnessed first-hand this morning). Many staff employees are being told by management to handle everything in-house (no matter the workload) instead of farming out the work to freelancers like myself.
What to do? Hang in there, stay out there, and keep connected.
So right Kelly - but I'm just beginning to see a bit of a turnaround here as those frazzled internal folks realise that they can't handle absolutely everything in-house with half the team they had last year.
Stuff's beginning to creep out under the radar....not big projects (they're all on ice), but stuff that's now recognised as necessary by management as well as the comms team.
So far it's hardly an avalanche, but after January when everyone seemed to be holding their vollective breath, the work's slowly beginning to trickle back.
